after showing dad all the nifty things my new tablet can do…
Dad: When I was your age– wait. No. they didn’t have computers when I was your age. Bill Gates was still in school. Apple was not a thing. No one knew what an “App” was. Was the Commodore 64 even out then?
Me: It came out in 1982.
Dad: Right then. So no one had a clue.

California Trenchers: CFL Grey Cup 100 Half-Time Show vs Marianas Trench
California Trenchers: CFL Grey Cup 100 Half-Time Show vs Marianas Trench
Football & Pop Music don’t always have the same fans, but how can Canadians *NOT* know about Marianas Trench? Aren’t they homegrown just like Justin Bieber & Carly Rae Jepsen?
For anyone not a fan of theirs, here’s why they’re not “new” or “up and comers” in music:
* They have been around since…
Can I just point something out?
It’s all about the target audience. Marianas Trench appears to be going for the the 12-20 range, although I don’t deny there are folks that are older than that that enjoy their music. Music is ageless after all.
However, the majority of folk (that I know of) who watch Canadian Football are in the 30-70 age range. My father honestly thought that Marianas Trench’s lead singer was Justin Bieber with a new hair cut. It’s just not the type of music that he’s interested in.
I’m 27, I didn’t really enjoy the half time show because the type of music I listen to is the same type of music my parents have been listening to for decades: the Stampeders, Allman Brothers Band, Bad Company, Creedence Clearwater Revival, and so on and so forth. I can bet good money that a lot of folk who listen to Marianas Trench wouldn’t have heard of those bands for all their awards, singles, and albums, so you shouldn’t be surprised that the age range that grew up on it doesn’t recognise a group that doesn’t have it’s face plastered on every inch of the country.
As a side note: the folks I was watching the game with didn’t recognise Jepsen, either. They only knew Bieber because, as I said, his face is on everything everywhere.
there are so many people in the grey cup tag who are only watching the game for Bieber and Jepson and Marianas Trench. Going through it is like watching a count down to half time.
c’mon guys, it’s the GREY CUP.
Show some enthusiasm for the game.
…it’s so weird to get messages from one of my exes.
When it comes to this particular one, I find myself baffled. I mean, I see Travis and chat with him at various Viking get togethers, but the last time we actually spoke outside of one of those things was about a week after he dumped me. January 2009.
And now he wants to hang out on Tuesday.
I swear to God, if he hits on me, I am smacking him.
And then I am calling his girlfriend.
That itself might be the problem? Just speculating.
maybe maybe
i dunno where my head is at of late
…how the fuck can I have that “third wheel feeling” when I haven’t done anything with anyone for the last two days??
She’s sitting on the edge of her bed, nails digging into the fabric as the clock tick-tick-ticks in her ears. She’s purposely turned her back to it, but it’s more than just being able to see the numbers. To see time ticking inevitably forwards.
Her nails match the autumn red of her skirt, filed and shaped to perfection, though she fears that if she tightens her grip any more she’ll break one of them. That wouldn’t… that wouldn’t…
Deep breath.
Tick-tock.
<You don’t have to do this.>
Tick-tock.
“Yes I do.”
Tick-tock.
<Jake…>
Time’s up, Jakey-boy.
“It’s Rachel, now.”
AFTERNOONADE

oh why oh why is it so hard to make a decision on this cosplay??
current discussion in animorphschat is lolita.
and it just made me remember that one animathon, when I was first attempting to get into lolita
where there was a gent there wearing the same dress as I was
and his cadre of girlfriends spent about ten minutes mocking me and telling me that he looked far better in the dress than I did
I never bought another lolita dress
(but I did start designing them)
