So sometimes I have ridiculous and complex head canons. Frequently, they are influenced by outside sources, then twisted about to suit my own needs.
This one started because of 188 Hugs (specifically part 6), wherein Toothiana’s little faerie helpers are nameless, and their relationship to Toothiana herself is compared to a bee hive. And then Jack (accidentally) named Baby Tooth, splitting her off from the “hive”, and giving her a personality and identity separate of Toothiana’s.
In 188 Hugs, Baby wears a little snowsuit to keep warm and tends to stick to Jack’s side (or rather his hood). I proceeded to take it a touch further than that.
As Baby is spending all of her time with Jack in the cold and snow, developing her identity, her personality quirks, and maybe even a touch of her own magic, she starts to adapt. Toothiana’s avian half is a hummingbird, but then Toothiana spends the majority of her time in warm climates. Baby develops thicker plumage and like in 188 Hugs, she starts growing bigger than her sisters.
Every time she molts, a few more green feathers turn blue or white, until her markings resemble the birds that live around Jack’s pond year round: blue jays. (because blue reminds her of Jack, and they’re quite pretty birds) Her fairy wings don’t change, however. They’re still the bright iridescent shades her mother sports, and the green and gold crown feather remains as another tie back to Toothiana.
Her teeth collecting days are hardly behind her; she’s just normally found picking up the teeth lost during winter (mis)adventures (or hockey matches. Those Canadian kids play pretty rough when there’s no one around to stop them!)
She’s a bit of Jack, a bit of Toothiana, but all Baby Tooth.
Like I said, I get carried away from time to time.
