Well Vriska’s wings are giving me trouble again. The wire dad so kindly bought won’t keep it’s shape so I need to find some other method of framing the wings.

Which while somewhat annoying also makes it so that I have to address some of the other problems in regards to how I was going to attach the organza to the frame. The original plan had been to sew a channel and feed the wire through it; this would have been exceptionally awkward when it came to the sharp “points” where the… um… sticky-outy parts in the middle of the wings came together.

can I really not think of a better word than “sticky-outy”?

…apparently not.

Moving on, I had considered using wonderflex to build two frames per wing and then sealing the fabric between them, but I don’t have enough wonderflex left over from Snakeman. I need to put in an order for it sooner or later— I have some armor projects I want to start in on— but in the meantime it means I need to try something else.

And then I remembered that I still have resin left over from when I was going to cast Phantom’s helmet crystal (I never did, as I ran out of time and wound up painting and using the master), and I just needed a little mold silicone. That was easily taken care of by heading over to PM Hobby.

So the current plan is to make a master frame using carved foamcore, then make a mold and pull some casts. I’ll probably wind up running wire through the resin just to make sure that there’s some form of solid core given how thin it’s going to be but I have high hopes for this.

I should probably make the horn molds at the same time, now that I’m thinking about it. Hmmm.
