working on the master for Vriska’s wing frame. if I’d been able to cut it all out of one piece it would’ve been better but none of the foamcore I had on hand was large enough, and I don’t actually know where to buy any larger sizes. So it’s been taped together and cut down and that makes it kinda floppy.
It looks pretty cool though. And because I’m going to be molding and casting it I can just reinforce the “back” because that part won’t be molded— I’m going to be casting two “frames” per wing and gluing them together with the wing fabric sandwiched in between.
I’m still debating where the sparkle fiber will be going— along the top of the frame? the underside? in a channel carved along the side of the frame? If I do the channel carved alongside the frame I might need to purchase some more fiber. I’ve only got 180 feet of it. I know that sounds like a lot, but the design I came up with uses about 80 feet per wing.
So I’ve only got about 20 feet of wiggle room on these things, and you have to keep in mind that it’s not 180 feet straight of the fiber. It’s six 20 foot pieces and six 10 foot pieces.
Ah well, it’s time to get back to work!
