so I have no real idea of what’s going on with the drunk rooster server, which is sad because I really like that server. from what I’ve gathered there were griefing threats, so it was taken down? and something about glowstone?

this not-knowing-what’s-up is what I get for accepting a job that exhausted me so much I couldn’t deal with people and avoided logging in when there were more than one or two people online, isn’t it??

We had a surge of players due to the IP being posted on iFunny, most of them non RT fans and not familiar with any of the mods. I guess assuming we were regular server mods they started doing their own thing and not following rules.

One of the rules was no glowstone because it causes fps lag. Instead of accepting the rule, they wanted to argue and justify, being very disrespectful to mods. We took the server down to take care of maintenance, in this case removing glowstone and taking down inactive houses.

Nobody liked that, so much so that they started griefing and threatening, a person joined and said they were from 4chan and that the post said to grief. The claim was most likely false, but we’re not taking any chances.

We immediately whitelisted the server and spent the last few days changing the IP, (took about two days to change the IP.) Now we are waiting for all of this to die down and reopen the server, and only allow trusted people on.

This whole thing has made me rethink what I knew about people, I played with these people for 5 months, but as soon as they felt wronged, they lashed out and wouldn’t listen to reason. I admit we didn’t handle this situation as best as we could have, but we’re not perfect, the mods did what they thought was the best they could do. Due to these events, I have quit the server, I’ll keep it up and handle problems when they arise, but I won’t be getting on to socialize anymore.

Oh good lord that’s even more baffling than what I’d put together from the posts in the tag. If a server has rules, then it doesn’t matter if some non-mod thinks that they’re wrong. Y’follow the rules or you find a different server. There are thousands of ‘em out there :/

It’s totally understandable that you took the server down; if something’s causing an issue you deal with it. And for something like glowstone, for which I can recall seeing a lot of it just underneath the stretch of land my house was on, that’s gonna take some time to deal with. I’m just scratching my head in confusion that folk would be upset about that. Getting your house taken down, yeah. That sucks, but if you haven’t been on in an age you’re not exactly using the thing so why get upset?

And that is a super shitty thing for the peoples of the internet to do to you. I may not have talked much with folks (wee bit shy this one), but I loved seeing everyone interact and all the cool things ya’ll did. It was good times, and while I didn’t experience this crazy show myself, I can understand taking a step back and washing your hands of it after this. I probably would’ve too.

Thankya for putting the server up in the first place. And for the smiles it’s given me and the other folks who don’t have their heads up their asses 🙂

Finally got some time to go and build a house and stuff on the drunk rooster server. I mean, I had a tiny box around a bed, but now I have a house. it’s pretty.

no pictures because I had to go make lunch and now I have to do a zillion other things and experience has taught me that logging back on would mean getting trapped in minecraftland for the rest of the day.
