Calgary’s newest emergency: there is a train that is in danger of falling into a river. It is carrying a shipment of flamable liquid of some sort.

Calgary you need to stop having emergencies when we haven’t finished cleaning up the last one.

Things I learned on my drive to work today:

Every water crossing bridge in the city has been washed out.

CPS is recommending not going to work today.

If your job is not absolutely essential, don’t go downtown.

Don’t take Deerfoot Trail (I learned as I was on Deerfoot)

The roads are… not empty, but there are so few vehicles out that it’s
creepy.

I think it’s going to be a quiet day.

Stay safe, Albertans!

Heavy rains hammering southern Alberta caused mudslides and road closures, and have forced evacuations. The city of Calgary issued mandatory evacuations for six neighbourhoods: Mission, Elbow Park, Stanley Park, Roxboro, Rideau and Discovery Ridge. The order applies to 7,000 homes. Officials expect more evacuations to occur.

The heavy rains created flashpoints of chaos from north of Calgary south to Lethbridge and west to the Rocky Mountain parks. The province reported 12 communities were under states of emergency.
