a brief analysis of the date

okay so it took me almost 40 minutes to find parking and then when I walked in to where we were meeting he didn’t hear me call his name three times. so the date started out on a not-so-good note.

We walked and chatted, and I was starting to feel better right up until he interrupted the story I was telling to ask if there was anything I wanted to know about him. This always throws me off— if there’s something that comes to mind as something I want/need to know, it will come up over the course of conversation. I don’t like being put on the spot and having someone demand that I “interrogate” them (his words).

Then, when we were discussing music, he goes “I have this friend who introduced me to classic hip hop. He’s black. And I mean that in the best way possible.”

What the shit is that supposed to mean? Am I supposed to take away from that that you’re a good guy because you have interracial friendships? Am I supposed to assume that you believe that other than this one friend of yours that all people of African descent are thugs and hoodlums because you felt it necessary to add on that ‘best way possible’? Or am I to assume that you believe ME to believe that? When the hell did I ever give that impression?

Discussion was… okay. Very comic book orientated, a little bit of videogame stuff, but we don’t play the same type of games so it was hard to connect on that. Talked about conventions, but not my cosplays. That was a new one on me. I’m not sure if I liked that or not.

Did a lot of filling in awkward silence with rambling. That’s not really a good sign.

Couldn’t tell if he was joking or not when he moaned about losing in an FPS “to a girl”.

Then there was the hug goodbye and the kiss on the cheek which is still freaking me out two hours later.

I promised him a second date. I doubt there will be a third.
