I didn’t mean to make you (or anyone for that matter) feel bad about choosing symbols!
When I was discussing that, it was more referring to the kinds of people who go “she has ice powers so she gets a snowflake!”, or a skull or a rainbow or… you know, stuff that looks like it should be on one of the kids’ shirts, not the trolls. And then it just seems so… disjointed? Yeah, disjointed sounds like a good word. Like there’s something that doesn’t quite match up between the fantroll and the ‘verse. Those symbols tend to be pretty dang important, you know?
and pfft on the can’t be old thing. fuck that noise (and go read Miracle Child) if you want to have an older troll you can freakin’ have an older troll. Now I haven’t reread Hivebent for a long while, but last I checked the only thing we know about adult trolls is that they’re supposed to get off Alternia at some an unspecified age. I’ve read plenty of fic (such as aforementioned Miracle Child) where Karkat or Tavros or Feferi or whoever stays on Alternia regardless of what they’re supposed to do or not do. And there’s a whole freakin’ universe with a galatic empire of trolls out there. They’re not all going to be six freakin’ sweeps.
