I think people need to know about this. Things like this happen every single day in America.

no like get this in your heads, people DIE because they simply cant AFFORD to live, there are people DYING because they cant PAY for treatment. EVERY.SINGLE.DAY. WE LET PEOPLE DIE BECAUSE THEY CANT AFFORD CARE. 

So the first job I had where I was making enough money to live on ($10/hr doing crummy call center work), we had this insanely long training class that was nine weeks long. One of the women who got hired the same time I did was ecstatic because after three months, we all would qualify for some reasonably decent health insurance coverage. She was diabetic and had been out of work for the past year or two, and couldn’t afford any of her medication.

The second week of training, right after lunch, she literally dropped dead in the middle of class. Just fell out of her chair dead. Because she hadn’t been able to afford her medication. When she finally got a shitty-ass job that was benevolent enough to provide health insurance after three months.

Now, I’m not saying that folks who worth in the healthcare industry should work for free or anything like that. God knows there are so many healthcare workers who are getting the shit end of the stick (nurses, I’m looking at you), and it takes a lot of schooling and expertise to be in that line of work. But I want you to look me in the eye when you tell me that healthcare should be a for-profit industry.

So that I can see exactly how shocked you are when I punch you in the fucking throat.

Ok but there was this guy called Ea-nasir who was a total crook and would actually cheat people ought of good copper and sell them shit instead.
The amount of correspondences complaining to and about this guy are HILARIOUS.

And just think, back in the day someone was like “everyone will know what you did! For now and all time!” and Ea-nasir didn’t believe them and here we are now

Fun game I played by accident last week: read over internet chatlogs from five years ago and watch Past You saying things that Present You can recognize as terrible and wrong.  It’s like a drinking game, only with wincing instead of drinking!

Change over time is not hypocrisy, it’s growth.  If you haven’t changed any of your opinions or speech patterns in five years, you may be overdue to dust some of them off and see if you still like them.
